Noorulhuda Bte Daud
Noorulhuda Daud graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the University of Malaya in 1996. She began her legal career at Messrs. Ishak Sharif & Co in Johor Bharu, where she completed her pupillage and launched her practice as a litigation lawyer. Over the years, she gained extensive experience in various firms across Johor Bharu before moving to Kuala Lumpur to join Messrs CK Lee & Associates.
In March 2001, Noorulhuda transitioned to the corporate sector as the Legal Manager where she oversaw corporate and company secretarial matters. However, her passion for active legal practice led her back to the courtroom in July 2002, where she resumed her litigation work at Messrs Long & Co.
Noorulhuda joined Jeffery Wong, Noorul, Ho & Lim in March 2003, and by December 2004, she was admitted as a partner of the firm. Her commitment to furthering her legal expertise saw her earn a Master of Law from the University of Malaya in 2010, followed by a Diploma in Syariah Law and Legal Practice (DSLP) in 2012. She was subsequently admitted as a Syarie lawyer in Selangor in 2013 and in Kuala Lumpur in 2014.
Throughout her career, Noorulhuda has managed a diverse portfolio, handling conveyancing and civil litigation across various domains, including banking and finance (with a specialization in Islamic banking), general debt recovery, probate and administration, as well as admiralty and maritime law.
Noorulhuda wrote a research paper on Musyarakah Mutanaqisah Islamic banking when pursuing her Master of Law and was appointed by the Government of Malaysia in 2016 as a member consultant of the National Human Rights Action Plan (NHRAP) for Malaysia.
Today, Noorulhuda leads the firm’s Islamic Conveyancing and Syariah Division, where she specializes in Islamic banking, family law, and succession laws, offering clients her deep expertise and dedicated service in these areas.
Real Estate
- Advised real estate developers, financial institutions, and state authorities in relation to private lease scheme in a special development region of Medini, Iskandar, Johore.
- Advised a Malaysian public listed financial institution on its innovative home ownership financial product based on the Islamic concept of Ijarah.
- Advised a Malaysian real estate developer on its acquisition of 100% stake in a subsidiary of a Hong Kong public listed company undertaking a real estate development prior to completion of its construction progress at the point of acquisition.
- Advised a Malaysian private investor on its acquisition of 60% stake in multiple real estate development projects through a special purpose vehicle at the total consideration of RM223m in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, Malaysia.
- Advised a Malaysian real estate developer on its acquisition of 100% stake in a company to undertake a development in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia together with construction of various infrastructure and relocation of squatters and pylons at the total consideration of RM276m.
- Advised a Malaysian real estate developer on its joint venture with company with rights over a land through a privatisation agreement with the Government of Malaysia at the total contract value of RM385m.
- Advised a Malaysian company on its proposed acquisition of a shopping mall at a total consideration of RM350m located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
Mergers & Acquisitions, Corporate and Commercial
- Advised a Malaysian public listed company on its acquisition of 51% stake in a Company operating an online overseas e-commerce (China) procurement service platform.
- Advised a Malaysian public listed company on the development, licensing and sale of a tokenisation service solution for e-commerce transactions’ payment with Malaysia’s shared payments network infrastructure company.
- Advised a Malaysian public listed company on the licensing of a proprietary card payment processing software with adaptive issuer risk-based authentication for implementation in various financial institutions in Malaysia.
- Advised a Malaysian public listed company forming part of a consortium with a Malaysian state government entity in its bid for a digital bank license with the Bank Negara Malaysia.
Healthcare
- Acted as local counsel together with US counsels to advise and negotiate a USD$10m tripartite settlement deal with a US and Malaysian party in relation to a medical device product dispute.
- Advised a Malaysian company on its expansion of business in healthcare and medical products to 27 European countries through a 65% stake in a special purpose vehicle incorporated in Dublin, Ireland.
- Advised a Malaysian public listed company on its intellectual property rights and obligations in relation to its manufacturing agreement with an Australian public listed company.
